The Stellar Triathlon is the first eco-festival in Serbia and the wider region aimed at raising awareness about the issue of light pollution in the environment. It highlights the primary negative consequence of light pollution—losing the view of the stars due to excessive use of nighttime lighting.
The festival is held under the auspices of Carpe Noctem, the only non-governmental organization of its kind in Serbia, dedicated to addressing the problem of light pollution in the environment. Recently, another Zvezdani Triathlon took place as the first interdisciplinary eco-festival in the region, combining nature, astronomy, and art, modeled after the form of a triathlon.
Participants of our pilot project, students from the University of Novi Sad—Borko Popović, Vukašin Đinović, Ozrenka Jeftić (Faculty of Sciences), Jovana Lalić (Faculty of Technology), and Miroslav Đoćoš (Faculty of Technical Sciences)—were actively involved in organizing this unique and significant event.
Curious about what it looks like when an event combines night hiking, ecology, observing celestial phenomena through a telescope, an art workshop, and live music in a forest setting? All this unfolds in the serene natural environment of Fruška Gora, and you can check it out on our YouTube channel.
