On Saturday, September 28th, our students, participants of the Foundation’s pilot project, had a unique opportunity to visit two leading innovation centers in Serbia – IT company Vega IT and research and development institute BioSense. This study trip to Novi Sad gave us an insight into advanced technological achievements and what is possible when science, entrepreneurship and modern business are combined.
Vega IT: Insight into modern business through workshops and meetings with experts
In the premises of Vega IT, one of the most successful IT companies in Serbia, we were convinced of what inspiration means. During the day spent in their dynamic work environment, we participated in workshops that gave us a behind-the-scenes look at modern business. Through interactive workshops, we got acquainted with different aspects of business, from project management and software development to marketing. We are especially grateful to the project managers Aleksandra Repac, Dušica Đisalov, Anja Stojković, Jovana Vučković, Nataša Vuković and Bojana Savanović, for sharing their rich experience and challenges that leadership in the IT industry brings. Their dynamism, dedication to acquiring new skills and love for working with people left a strong impression on us. Through big smiles and entrepreneurial spirit, young professionals from Vega IT reminded us of the values we cherish in our Foundation. We are grateful to have them as hosts and an inspiration for our students, who were able to see first-hand what dedication to development, courage and curiosity looks like.
BioSense Institute: A Scientific Adventure in the World of Digital Agriculture
The visit to the BioSense Institute, which followed the same afternoon, was a real scientific adventure. Our host, research associate Branimir Bajac, presented us with the history and mission of the institute that pioneers the digital transformation of agriculture in Serbia. As a research and development center for IT biosystems, BioSense has set high standards for advancing agriculture with digital solutions that enable greater efficiency while using fewer resources. Through the BioSense accelerator, the institute successfully combines science and business, providing mentorship, scientific and business support to startups and small businesses that develop innovative IT solutions. We were inspired by the story of the institute, which not only contributes to local agriculture, but also has an impact on the global scene, showing that cutting-edge technology can also come from Serbia. Thank you to the BioSense team for allowing us to take a peek into a world where the boundaries of science and technology are being pushed for an afternoon.
Ready for further steps
This trip has hopefully left an important mark on all participants. We would like to thank our hosts at Vega IT and BioSense Institutes for welcoming us and showing us that Serbia can create top science and develop business solutions that even the most developed countries would be proud of. We have provided our students not only with an insight into two leading institutions, but also with inspiration to contribute to tomorrow’s future through innovation and dedication. We continue to work on networking and providing support to young talents, believing that this kind of synergy is the key to their development, but also to the development of the entire society.
